We were pretty good at getting on the road promptly. We left Tony's Cycle at 9:00 a.m. sharp. The first thing we did was head to Amzy's place for a coffee and chat. It wasn't long afterwards that Dan jumped on a mini-bike thought to have been a tad too small. He even performed a wheelie. (You can see the skid marks his feet left in the grass). They also had a sweet old Enfield sitting there. It too made the ride to Campbellford. I didn't get a chance to say thanks to him and his family for their warm hospitality. THANKS!
From there, we headed down through Picton and on into Campbellford. Larry did a good needling job as he weaved us through the county but Mother Nature wouldn't let us through without a little sprinkle. I was happy to have picked up a cheapo pair of rainpants last night.
As we arrived in Campbellford I expected to see a ghost town as far as motorcyclists were concerned since the real Indian Day was yesterday. Surprisingly, there were at least a hundred or so bikes spread out through the town and about 60 in front of Charlie Mahoney's Shop.
I went over to the shop and met with "bbb" (Bearded Big Biker),Claude and "Shakin" , whom I met online through CMG. It was nice to put a face to the names. I slipped into the shop and saw Bill chatting with a gentleman over what appeared to be an ancient Indian motorcycle begging to be brought back to life. In the main shop, there were 3 primo models which surprisingly survived the weekend's flood of drool, spittle, fingerprints, rubs and lickage. (Don't ask).
Outside the shop stood Charlie Mahoney's motorcycle (apparently the one he generally uses). It was hard to get a shot with so many people surrounding it. Just a short distance away, I found Charlie checking out what appeared to be an article about himself in a magazine. May the powers that be allow me to be riding at his age!
Just across the street, people were chatting like old friends and some (Mike & Martha) were even practicing judo. (I think she could take him).
